Dog teams rotated in and out of the field on 3-5 day missions mainly supporting Infantry units of the 196th Light Infantry Brigade by walking point for combat patrols. Teams were often subjected to working in a variety of adverse conditions but no worse than those they were sent to support. Rarely did a team work with the same unit twice - the one constant they both could count on was each other’s loyalty. This 24/7 relationship developed into a deep and abiding bond which most handlers still feel to this day.
